John Yardley's masterly use of the watercolor medium has brought him to international attention; his feel, understanding and application of his mediums are unmatched by many of his contemporaries.
Born in 1933 in Yorkshire, England, his career paths lead him to that of a Banker. It wasn't until 1986, he placed his full attention to painting full time. John had drawn and painted in watercolor since childhood so the transition was inevitable.
His understanding, feel and application combined with use of paper background within the image, is part of his overall approach to each painting.
From viewers prospective, the immediate "feel" of his work, is the ephemeral quality, the capturing of the moment, as if a camera shutter has opened and closed, as in slow motion, the sense of a slightly blurred movement.
