Jae Dougall was born in the Philippines in 1956. She began to paint at the age of twelve under the tutorial of her father, the master impressionist painter Jose Trinidad. Later, she attended the University of British Columbia and the University of Madrid.
Jae works primarily in oil, and is inspired by the modern Dutch painters. She demonstrates a unique style and her compositions have a lyrical rhythm with tilting perspectives. She starts her works with dark grounds, surfaces to light effects and structures. Experiencing her paintings is a little like being inside a genuine jewel from where the facets of precious gems are being curved by nature. Fluid lines, lush patterns and exotic ambiances are the dominant features of her work.
Since 1991, Jae Dougall has exhibited in Canada, the USA, and Asia. Her works are presented in corporate and private collections worldwide: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, Washington D.C., New York, Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Tokyo, Hong Kong and in Washington State, Florida, New Mexico, Arizona, South Carolina and in Gurnsey Island, England and Taiwan.
