"My work has always been inspired by nature - the big landscape, the garden, water and sky. To this familiar subject matter I bring my personal vision. Process is very important to me but I’m not burdened by an ideological approach to style. I observe and interpret in a somewhat naturalistic way.
I want the gardens to be joyful and voluptuous or serene and contemplative. I want the landscape to be transported from real to imaginary places where it is the essence and the ambient qualities that are explored, sometimes with surprising result. I think it is the wonderfully descriptive thoughts that come to mind that I’m trying to capture when I observe the natural world.” Joanne has been exhibiting professionally since 1980. As a youth, she was immersed in art, but surprisingly she went on to  receive a  Bachelor of  Science  degree in  1966  and
worked in the pharmaceutical development field. Her return to painting was the result of mature choice and a passionate need to paint.
Her style and very personal vision have evolved through self-development and constant exploration. There were extensive studies in the formative years. Joanne has achieved an outstanding reputation for her dramatic garden and landscape paintings. Her use of colour, intuitive brushwork and bold compositions have become her hallmarks.
Joanne has had 20 solo exhibitions with major art galleries, and has participated in numerous group shows at prestigious locations includins Ontario House, London, England.
In 2005, she received the “In Celebration Of Women” award for achievement in the visual arts. Her paintings are represented in more than 100 corporate collections and numerous private collections in Canada, the U.S., England, France and Hong Kong.
