Donald Liardi is considered by most to be an exceptional sculptor. Many students of sculpture have adopted Liardi as their mentor. Particularly those who have fallen in love with Liardi’s human form; albeit exaggerated.

Born in 1951 in Long Island New York, Donald Liardi obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts at Syracuse University and his post graduate degree was from L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Geneva Switzerland, where he also received his Degree de Perfection. He spent another two years in Europe studying and exhibited under the encouragement of architect Pascal Hauserman. In 1979 Donald became a Canadian citizen.

In 1980 his work “La Danse” received high acclaim in” Sculpture for the Eighties” exhibition at the McMichael Collection.

In 1982 the Gardiner Foundation commissioned Liardi to sculpture “LeCoeur” , an awared presented for outstanding achievement in Medical Sciences. He has since received several awards, mentions and tributes for his outstanding work.

Recognizable by his exaggeration of key elements of the human form, elongating the outstretched limbs in exuberant, joyous expression, he combines these elements with realistic, delicate, exceptional detail.

Don Liardi is an Elected Member of the Sculptor’s Society of Canada, a lecturer at Queen’s University where he also conducted sculpting classes.
